ETA – electronic travel
authorisation for the United Kingdom
What is an ETA?
ETA (electronic travel authorisation) is a new electronic travel authorisation for the United Kingdom. From 2 April 2025, it will be mandatory for Bulgarian citizens and all EU citizens, except those from Ireland. The ETA is not a visa; it is a pre-approval for a short-term stay (up to six months) for purposes such as tourism, business or transit.
Who needs to apply for an ETA?
From 2 April 2025, an ETA will be required for:
